The TCR that weights 106g was the one I broke in Norway (I broke second section, counting from the butt), I send the whole rod to Sage and they rebuild the broken section and butt section as well (for the better fit as they said).
As you can see I end up with 17g lighter rod. Im not sure if the weight difference is that the cork is new and clean, never been in the water to soak it and that is why is lighter.
Now Im asking, was I badly fix by Sage, and my TCR is not TCR anymore(whatever the blank says), or Sage made me a favor giving me lighter but strong TCR.
Do you think that the ERN is lower now?
17g its a lot i think!!
cheers

Hi Mike
Cork weighs very little, the amount on a rod like the TCR would weigh less than 20 grams (the weight of the amount of rings of the same quality as they use before sanding) so it's definetly not in the cork, are the reel seats the same? This is a place where alot of weight is usually hidden....
Otherwise, they painted a TCX blank chilipepper red and wrote TCR on it weight seems to fit...
Your rod says TCR, thus it's a TCR. No two are exactly the same anyway, and since you're the one casting it, you should be able to tell the difference if there is any.
Weight doesn't really tell anything about ERN, you have to measure it, does it feel stiffer or softer?
For reference, the two TCR5's in the household:
Mine: 4,1-9,9-16,9-76 from tip to bottom total: 106,9 grams (x model, and very abused, but hasn't broken yet....Got me through three certifications so is now retired though )
Silja's: 4,3-9,7-17,3-75 total: 106,3
Cheers
