@grunde: probably my O1 knife (generic mass product, no BRK) was just a bad apple or and/or not badly heat reated - vid was a good eye opener - that guy put some serious effort in! Shame about the BRKs - at that price point they could as well be spot on in every aspect - however it's actually not the first time I've heard moderate complaints...

Not an entirely uninteresting video, Grunde! Parts of the test is good (cutting rope and testing on phone book paper), but the rest (hammering through a walnut block etc) I really don't care about. If I was ever in a situation where I needed to do stuff like that, it would be a situation where I really didn't care if the knife survived.

But it was interesting to hear that A2 came out both on top and bottom as a result of different heat treats/temperings. Just highlights what i said above :-).

Like you, Grunde (and as I said above) my interest in big, badass knives was in my childhood years, and apart from one or two (uslessly?) big knives, my collection now consists of smaller, useful knives and two axes.

Oh - and I've always had a thing for Buck folders - not to open that can of worms :-).

A pair of custom bushcrafters and their sheaths... a Brian Andrews (one of my all-time favorite backpacking knives) and a Dan Koster:

I see from FB that Gerber the Jolly Green Giant is now making lives for a living? I’ll drop the big man a line.

A classic, excellent pocket knife. And no knife is easier to get crazy scary sharp than an Opinel :pirate:
