It is just me or do all fishermen get a shitload of splinters and thorns embedded in themselves? I actually have dreams about picking out huge pieces of wood from my fingers, and then one time it happened, and a lump I had been picking at for three or four years suddenly opened up and a huge piece of wood came out. NZ was the worst, there is some plant that embeds dozens of tiny little slivers into your knees and shins. For months afterwards I’d be popping them out. Every time I look at my hands I’m wondering how many bits of wood are in there.
I’m not complaining. It’s just an observation and I quite enjoy getting them out. The satisfaction is almost worth putting them in there in the first place, but not quite.
Cheers, Paul

Can't remember my age at the time, but I do recall telling my parents that when I grow up I'm having my heels amputated due to all the thorns stuck in there :-D
Everything here has thorns, so any outdoor activity goes along with splinters and broken off thorn tips.
My nemesis these days are metal shavings.
