Must be a windows phone, Pete? Can someone post the YouTube URL pls? I'm on my phone. Sorry about that Pete, but good thing because I'll need to edit the FP!

I couldn't see it on my Mac.

It is a super piece of film.
On the clip that you showed n Facebook I found your explanation of the cast and how you designed the cast superb.
I have often been in the situation in a boat, surrounded by rolling tarpon, where I found it very difficult to get the cast there quick enough. Your experiences in Malaya could help fly fishermen every where.

I was interested that you did not try to get the fish on the reel. I would have thought that a good reel set with the brake almost solid could be a great help.

Once again brilliant stuff.

Many thanks

Pete

Hi Pete,

the time getting the line on the reel would mean that the fish has had the upper hand, they get any momentum going and it's game over - beneath is a flooded jungle. Also the problem with a reel is that it's not easy to reduce pressure, for example when I have to feel like out because the fish has gone under the boat. So for me playing by hand is a must in this circumstance.

Bloody good question mate, I was asked before and so have had time to think about it :)

Cheers, Paul

And Pete, you're right about the casting. It's my big selling point here with the very limited number of people I fish with. They really learn to cast! They're all destination SW guys like yourself. It's a niche market but it works, because if you can cast here then difficult SW shots are much easier (and quicker).

Chuan for example told me he used this cast to catch a Tarpon near the boat that he wouldn't have caught otherwise.

It's my biggest selling point because the first time no one catches a Snakehead! Second time no one lands one and often break a rod. Third time it's all happening. And the main reason is simply because it's so casting centric. And that's part of my big love affair with it.

Then there's Gourami of course.... :)

Thanks,
Paul
