Hi Bernd

Crossed loops are usually because they have too little line velocity right? Or is it impossible to have a non crossed loop?

Asking for a friend in Germany...

Cheers

Not at all. Most Spey Casts have crossed loops and they have plenty of velocity.

Why do you think that they have too little line velocity? Asking for a friend in Denmark.

Because they clearly can't clear the tip in a 2dimensionel cast, and isn't that what we are takling about when you starte that a straight line path of the rod tip causes the line to crash into it?

Nice fake tight loop, optical illusions are fun :yeahhh:

Love how the goalposts keep being moved all around the field :D

Has nothing to do with speed. Throw the line perfectly straight at a miillion miles an hour and it still won’t form a loop. The legs only have to separate a little to avoid collision. If you tilt the rod plane you can get a closed loop. It doesn’t need to be underpowered.

Hi Lasse,
when I shape crossed loops my line has precisely the speed I desired to present the fly gently to the fish.
It's possible to increase line speed, if desired of course.

I hope I can get my fly line simulation running again soon.

Gravity has a big impact on the line trajectory. With a parallel line setup to the ground and a pure SLP also parallel to the ground you're getting an USD loop.
