5wt. MED Distance Tournament INDOOR

Post by Bernd Ziesche »

Hi everyone,
I am wondering how big the interest in having an international (free to enter for everyone) 5wt. competition would be?

In the world championships in Norway I heard many participants complaining about wind making it a bit of a lottery. Now heats would make it less of a lottery, but still wind will always have a significant impact in all outdoor events as we all know.

Who would travel to Germany to enter such a tournament, if it would be held indoors?
Thanks
Bernd

Depends when it is Bernd, I have two trips to Europe next year and if I could incorporate an indoor event with one, I'd certainly enter.

To WC rules Bernd or, will the rod be limited?

I'd probably not travel for just 5wt regardless of the above but, include 55g & 27g and I'd give it some serious consideration.

Hi Ben,
I was thinking about MED distance and accuracy.
Adding 27g sounds fine as well.
Not sure about the general interest in 55g?

I am open minded about the rules.
Personally I would prefer to have something like 3 outfits and then run three events (one each...).
But if most would want it to be "rod free to choose" I would go for that one.

Definetly there would be some serious tackle to win. :)
Thanks
Bernd

In the first step now am interested in seeing, if there might be a potential to set up a contest gaining a serious number of people coming by.

Bernd,

I'm sure there would be enough interested in casting 55g. I wouldn't travel to cast an "experiment" upon which you know my thoughts already combined with accuracy. Run it to WC rules, include 55g & 27g and I would probably go providing flights were sensible. Where are you thinking of holding it and when?

Cheers

It would be next year. Definetly in the area of Hamburg, so an international airport would be available without a long drive.
Not sure about the best time of year?
Probably (European Offseason = February to March?)

Can you find an indoor arena that's well suited and big enough?

To find one, isn't the problem. To pay for a rent during two days in a weekend is/might be.
So it would need a serious number of international fly casters coming over and then finding some help by sponsors to make it happen.
But to me it seems someone has to make such an event happening!?

How long are we talking for the 5wt. game?
And how long are we talking for the 55g?
