Hi Lasse,
I am not allowed to tell you, Lasse. You have to try it.
Seriously, for me it's significant.: 5wt. GT125 adds at least 2m to my max distance compared to the MED. Having tailwind, it can be even more, because I get the GT125 much better into the wind on the bc.
Did you try both and compare?

Hi Bernd
I've only tried the prototype Paul had in Serbia last spring. So I'd rather not make any judgement on it
But to be honest, I would be very surpriced if I could put 2 meters on top of what I can get from the MED, the RIO doesn't even get me that in good conditions
Cheers

Flycasting, so simple that instructors need to make it complicated since 1685

Yup, 1 warm up cast, and you could keep it, and then only have 2 more...Sasse wrote:+ warm up. But still, its great and very impressive.Lasse Karlsson wrote:And only 3 casts each....

I haven't put the latest one in a shootout yet and so don't have measurements, but the prototypes we cast in Scotland last year, and those went further than the MED and were more stable. The one that Mike is selling is better again. I would be very surprised if it's as much as two metres for me. Interestingly the running line is not particularly thin, is the head length slightly longer than the MED?
I find the RIO goes slightly further than the MED - a few feet anyway. But is unstable as hell and sometimes it just doesn't fly for me. I suggested that they go with a longer head than the MED, but instead they went for a shorter one with thinner running line Bruce once provided me with a MED on a thin mono core. The thing was 150 feet long and it could cast to the backing. But it was an ugly line to cast!
Cheers, Paul

Hi Paul
MED has a head of 69 feet
RIO has a head of 75 feet
GT125 has a head of 73 feet
This according to specs on the websites
They seem to have some variation though, I have a RIO that is as stable as anything, too bad I have snapped it, so I can't use it in comp. It also has the thinnest runningline of any I have tried....And I've set my pb in carry with it indoors...
Cheers

that prototype did not add distance forme, too. Significant different line. It's in the new one only.
I have no doubt you cast significant further with it. Yet everybody I shared casting it with, did immediately.

p.s.: The new GT125 has a thinner shooting line, too.

Hi
It should give you more stability and help you cast further as we deal with 5ft less overhang.
Now does anybody know if there is a weight difference beetwen MED and GT 125 in first 30'?
and last thing
any chances for ICSF to let us use it in next WC, or is it MED-period!
cheers

Should both be legal #5's at 30' Mike. There will of course be a slight variance from line to line as you will have found in Norway.Michal Duzynski wrote:Hi

Final GT125 has a reduced running line diameter for the last 25' has a head length of 73' and the target weight at 30' is to be right slap bang on at 30' for each line weight.
Differences against MED for me are better turnover, longer carry, longer casts and better stability.
Cheers
