For me it’s far better if the loop is horizontal and possibly climbing. I see three things here, overpowered, the mend and the forced rod unloading.

Cheers, Paul
I agree (I apologize), I explained myself badly, I meant, that the part of the line attached to the rod must be moved, under the loop, when it is in the direction, one day when I have learned to cast, I will learn English, 😊

Hi Leslie,

It’s a very cool cast however it’s not JB’s corkscrew curve. Jason’s is a horizontal loop with pull back - the pull back actually goes to the opposite side with the rod than in your video and accentuates the curve from there. I would refer to your cast as a spiral mend.

I’m just heading to bed at the moment and back to boat tomorrow. I’m sure we can dig out some videos otherwise I’ll make one this week because it’s a dammed sight harder to write than it is to demonstrate:D

Welcome to the Board by the way!

Cheers, Paul

Ok well that’s how I describe it :D I know exactly what it is Lasse. There is a video of Jason making the cast somewhere.

Heading to the ship. Will be around properly later.

Cheers, Paul

Anyway Lasse, maybe since you are the “Corkscrew King” you should describe it :D :p

This is just so much clearer despite the background Matrix sound.

Welkom Leslie!

Jason's corkscrew pre the GIF seemed to me as an overhead stroke going into a side-chop stop, like Paul's but not directly sideways, followed by a C mend. I think your Jarmo-placed corkscrew video is close to that (but yours without the return at the C's bottom), and consequently Paul's version.

Jason's GIF in lights looks more curvy and fluid and your second rolling curve video is similar in that respect, but yours has vertical components to the curves the rod tip draws. A sort of horizontal figure-of-eight rather than Jason's vertical S. It appears that your rolling curve has an additional reversal, as both your layouts end up hooked in the same direction but the initial tip deviations and direction of the stop differ.

It would be great if Jason could comment on your two versions!

All the best,
Dirk
