Sorry for my delay Paul, the ICSF have changed their constitution to assist with the development of FFGWCs and a commission has very recently been selected. Communication and fact finding will be the priority I suggest.

Will be an interesting few years,

Sorry to interrupt in the discussion but I just saw this and had to do some calculations on it. I am not sure if it is correct to count the rod as a solid stick for transferring the torque but this is the result i got. I think Ill never be worried to break a rod like this again.

It took a fork lift to break that rod with a 23 pound (100 N) tip force.

Before this experiment there was a visit to the PPE counter:

"...right then, I'll be needing gloves, a face-mask and some knee pads"
"Ok, I can sort that for you. Anything else?"
"No, I think that's it. Oh, wait a minute, perhaps a willy protection board. Not just for any old willy, a big willy protection board. Come to think of it what's the largest willy protection board you do?"

He might not have had much confidence in the knee pads ;)

I would be completely ok to have stiffness limit on rods for trout and sea trout at least. Not any designation written on the side of the bland. Standard horizontal test rig and certain weight cannot bend the rod beyond certain horizontal line.

On top of that, to get closer to fishing, both sea trout and salmon should be lower weight lines. As should speys. On sea trout at least, I would also like a head length restriction to a more fishing realistic floating shooting head casting.
I'm here just for the chicks.
