Well I don’t think it’s loading and I’m not sure what stiffening up the blank means :p but after Merlin said it might be a form of pull-back / forced unloading, this has sat in my head for a while and it feels very similar “conventional” pullback.

Well...

Paul made me scratch my head (again)... so I went right out and tried it. And, he is right - this "torque twist" input will accentuate pull back too!

But I have not been trying that. I have been adding the twist at the point of my quickest wrist turn-over and haul, which I follow with a definite forward follow-through push. So I cannot see how this is a form of pull back. I cannot understand how I can be accelerating and decelerating at the same time?

I can tell you that it is much easier to play with this type of stuff with an extremely slow rod. Well... not actually easier casting-wise, but easier to see and feel the effect when you get it right.

Try getting some high speed footage. That really nails what happens :)

I’ve been doing this without the haul on my glass and practicaster, I think there’s less bend after the stop and the stop is sharper. I agree with Lasse that video is needed and it’s also possible we are all doing something different.

Will make a high speed video before Thursday and will upload then. I started using it in this way to cast a bushy fly on a long leader without flyline. (Or started using it again apparently - because I’ve already talked about it years ago but had forgotten  )

Years ago is an understatement ;)
You taught it to me in 2003 :D so no wonder you've forgotten :p

That’s funny, I’ve been trying it to cast mayfly on a 10ft leader and #2 Orvis Supafine line :D

And fantastic thank you
When are you coming to be abducted again?

Cheers Paul
Haha, surely if I'm part of the organising then it cant be an abduction, can it? :D

Maybe fishing tomorrow after work, gonna give this a try. Hopefully all the water hasn't dried up.
