Hi everyone,
http://www.first-cast.de/Textdateien/Ri ... skopf.html
In the first chart you find my suggestion for shooting head weights in Scandi style and overhead casting in relation to AFTMA. Weights are in gram. Using the head for Skagit style I would add 3-6 gram.

For example: 5wt. = 11-13gram (Scandi + overhead casting) = 14-18gram for Skagit style. 14-18gram = 216-278grain.
Finally the perfect weight in Skagit is relative flexible to handle! It depends also on the flies you may want to cast and the fish. Shooting 16gram on a spooky Brown trout may not succeed even though your Skagit cast was a good one ;).
Best
Bernd

I would match an ambush 5 with a 5 rod.

It's a fantastic line for switch, or restricted backcast casting.

Horrendous head colour though....

Yes, Ambush works fine here. 5wt. offers 215 grains for the head.

Hi Bernd,
I remember a CI test question that went like, what is the best line for a long roll cast (over 50 feet)? is it
a)standard weight forward line b)double taper
c)shooting line
d)bass bug taper
I don't remember what I answered but think I got it wrong because the correct answer was b)double taper. So I'm a bit confused now as to what the correct answer should be!

Hi Dennis

Same answer. The question is about a rollcast without shooting line.
Look at the lines in the question very generally.

Cheers
