Flycasting, so simple that instructors need to make it complicated since 1685
Got a Q++ at casting school, wearing shorts

Haha.
The second attempt was better because I had emailed all the examiners telling them that any cast I couldn’t make I’d have them show me how it was done. Was an interesting argument before the test!!

Thought your first attempt was pretty decent too trying to hit a 18 meter roll cast while standing in the dutch channel under bushes and trees, with the examiner behind those bushes and trees
Might have to dig out my old camcorder again and check
Seen it examined as a stone cold static minimal D, almost a switch (only fly and leader skating on water towards the caster while the delivery is made) static with arms depth D poked straight back etc.
Don't know how it's done these days, left them over a decade ago so theres that.
Cheers

Paul, that is interesting, but I think they just want you to set up without a redo haha! Lasse may know better, but I've had CBOG's that don't want the anchor too far back either. If it's static it's hard to have it in front of you and have a big D loop right? This is the whole reason I'm not crazy about the whole static thing other than from a teaching standpoint. For performance I'm not sure why it need to be static.Paul Arden wrote:I think you need a softer rod Bart! Start with the fly out to 18.5m, slide back to form the D-loop and then I trap the line under the rod hand and use lots of pull-back.
Lars uses a haul, but I struggle to shoot line so I don’t.
It was quite peculiar with this exam because you were not allowed to reach back with the hand to set up a bigger D-loop.

Paul, I was saying, you can't get a big D Loop and have point P in front of you if it's static. You just have a small D loop really lol.....not that you shouldn't be able to go 50' with a small one
