Tenis Elbow
Hi MarcMarc Fauvet wrote:it's a shame no-one is picking up on this.Aitor wrote:You must take into account an important point: the tennis elbow comes from repetitive motion of the... Wrist!
Reduce wrist motion as much as possible.
I acctualy did.
Im casting for few years, and nothig never happend.
Now all this chopping wood story made me think, after reading Aitor's comment.
My wrist movement was much more intense trying to stop the heavy axe.
In all my life activity (weigjt lifting, casting, carring bricks, working hard) nothing never happend.
I stoped chopping wood, and reduced my imtence wrist movement, and the pain is almost gone.
After all Im happy that fly casting wasnt the main cause of my pain.
cheers

good news Michal
for sure, chopping wood is bad. i hope you'll only use electric heating in the future
if i may: don't consider the TE as being over just because you had a shot and it doesn't hurt now. it really is a long-term thing that needs to be managed carefully to not have it become even worse in the future.

First of all i hope that your leteral epicondylit has become better. have been reading some comments and there are some things you have think about when it comes to tenis elbow, wrist movments(as written before), also minimize finger movments since the muscle attachment for tenis elbow also affects the fingers. so shoping wood, fixing with the car or heavy lifting will affect your tenis elbow alot. dont use any machines that vibrates.Michal Duzynski wrote:Hi All
I wanted to ask, what are the latest study on the tenis elbow?
Ive noticed the pain after my latest expierience with shooting head and casting heavy minnows on a full sinking lines.
I did the reaserch, and get the more less idea how to treat it, but I want to know ,once it appears and then healed will this be back?
I red that you need to see your doctor, about the pain, but Im sure that this is the tenis elbow.
I cast distance mostly with 5wt, I did put some ice, rest atwo days and not feel the pain.
Today during my casting session all was fine, but after a bit of pain came back.
At the moment I put on the elbow comprasion band,a some cream.
WILL THIS EVER DISAPEAR?
cheers
mike
the recovery for this "hell" is from now until it heals, that means years and it is individual. i have had my letral epicondylit for approximately 3 years. to top it all i also have medial epicondylit (golf elbow) in same arm for some months now. the sad part is that this is my casting arm. but alot of painkillers and im siutable for casting.
waiting for them to check what nervs are involved and then operation to fix it.
solution: tenis elbow
seek out a naprapath that can help you by first use ultrasound away the scarring of the muscle, and they should massage the 6 layers of muscles. alot of pain in the beginning but after perhaps 5 visists it should have become alot better.
there are several eccentric exercises you should do to strenghten these muscles which the naprapath can show you.
remember that once you have developed this tenis elbow it doesnt take much for it to return. it always have a tendecy to return when anger these muscles/muscle attachments.
atlast: i hope your doing better
Enjoy the moments of silence

Thanks Hook
Its ok, now, sometimes it comes back. Now the pain moved to my wrist,
I dont take a pain killers, but noticed that after a good rest everything is fine.
Main thing I need to shorten my practice sessions.
Today I cast distance for 1,5h (50-80%), and no issues with the elbow.
Im much more carefull now, and said to my father in low to chop his fucking wood on his own.
cheers

Guys,
This subject was well beaten in previous SL Boards.
I was suffering very serious case of TE from 2005-2008 .
Still, the best advice was given to me by my family GP .
He asked me do I have my Birth Certificate .
I said , yes I do.
Nice ,he said, then , whenever you feel the pain, you take that damn BC of yours and put it on you elbow
Cheers,
Z

Hi All
Talking about an elbow does'nt matter what kind of rod you have the problem is you are squeezing the grip.
I'm an acupuncturist for about 40 years now and treating lots of elbows and all kind of problems.

again, before I reached my 45-50's , I could squeeze hell out of grip- and everything was fine.Don wrote:Hi All

now , if I don't stretch before , during and after casting ,or if I squeeze the grip just a little bit more , or if I have more than half of bottle of the vine (usually yes ),or if I have some nasty fermentation inclined food or drink , or if I don't do 30 minutes warming up ,or if I don't put ice on after casting, or, you name it ....immediately my goilf and tennis elbow start to scream like a crazy telling me how much I am fucking old ,and that's because I used to cast/fish 8 hours per day ,and because I used to drink too much beer and wine , because I never warm up or strech , never take a rest during fishing .... and thus everything has its limits ,and all such a kind of shit ........
But, yes, that's why I carry my BC always with me ,put on the elbow-and then everything goes fine
I do some stretch, some warming up, sometimes I take a rest when casting or fishing - to have some wine, cigar or beer, put few ice cubes from my double Whiskey on the elbow ...all in all RICE therapy par excellence ...
Fak, the life is just only one (this one )
