Re: Glass?!
My first rod was glass. It was pretty fucking ugly actually
Re: Glass?!
Hi Trev, Yep the rod is salsa, I used Snake Brand 'Universal' rings- wouldn't use anything else (for traditional rings anyway). The blanks are made by for Swift by CTS, to Swifts own specifications and tapers, quality is great.

Re: Glass?!
still keep my 20 years olde glass rod, very heavy and undestructable /almost/.

Re: Glass?!
For fishing up close and personal on small streams, I prefer the Steffen over any of my carbon fibre rods. If you are really up for a build, I'll try and set up a meet with a man that has a house full of glass rods who lives mid-way between us.

Re: Glass?!
Thanks for doing that, Vince. I appreciate it.
Looking forward to trying some new stuff out. The Steffen blanks do look very nice.
There is a particular kind of glass aficionado that seems to like some pretty gaudy colours. Something more low profile for me I think

Hey Toby - Those Kabutos look gorgeous .... been drooling all over some pics all week end. I'm trying to persuade my missus to take the trip from Tokyo to Hokkaido when we're in Jpn for a friend's wedding soon. She's not getting it yet ...
Also been listening to Cameron's interview on the Itinerant Angler podcast (not pretending to know him .... Just can't remember his surname )
Bit different from the Loop Cross S1?
Cheers

Some of the Kabuto builds are absolute artistry, Toby hasn't let me play with his yet though

...I've got a Winston Retro 4wt...the statement is true: "...a rod that loads like a 4 weight but has the fish-handling power of a six..." It was SLOOOOOOOOOOO'...
it was a fading passion, tho'...but with this Epic stuff, Marc, you just wet my appetite, again.

Glass?!
I fancy a dose of 'glass, and have been looking the Epic blank. Have a question prompted by the video clip here
http://indiriverrods.blogspot.co.uk/201 ... s.html?m=1
At 36 secs and again 45 secs, the blank "twists" (don't know how to describe what I'm seeing). It looks like the angler (Peter Hayes?) isn't in control of the fush.
What's going on there; do all rods do this or is this a feature of the unidirectional layup of the Epic blank?
