Phew. Well I'm currently trying to get a bit leaner at the moment, but I've also stepped up the training to include the bike (although shortened the run). My favourite is 30 mins weights, 10K run, 40K bike. Hitting the 10 pretty hard. But when I come back from Germany that all goes out the window and start working on stamina again. And particularly the bike. But also everything else.
I have three meals that I cook. One is a veggie pasta. Another is a curry with rice. And the last is fish and potatoes and peas. In Malaysia I was eating a lot of noodles and fish/veggies. Ok with all those meals there's a lot of taste variety, fior example it might be a Thai curry or an Indian one! But basically it's either pasta, rice or potatoes.
Eggs on toast for breakfast, usually after training unless I feel particularly hungry.
Then in the middle of the day I might have noodles. If I'm peckish then nuts, of different sorts, fruit when I remember or the odd sandwich. I'm happy to graze throughout the day if necessary. Cashew nuts, almonds, dried mango etc etc.
Sports drinks on the bike. The odd chocolate or muesli bar. And in a few weeks I'll start on the gels again during training.
I reckon variety and small portions and often is the best. I'm very careful to buy quality and fresh products, free range eggs, and so on. Like you I get to see direct results on a daily basis from the food I digest. Which, for example, is why I know that for me rice gives me more stamina than pasta.
I also drink a lot of water! Somewhere between 6 and 8 litres/day.
Cheers, Paul

Well it's over; I am purified. Long casts await. Now I'm going to buy some wine.
