If anyone is interested in joining the British Team then let me know. We're meeting October 11/12. No time wasters please :p We're looking for dedicated people who will train minimum 5 times/week for the next two years and hit the gym every other day.

I think the house is full but we have lots of tent space

Cheers, Paul

Never done any proper gym training. And single hander I trained many years ago, maybe until 2007 or 2008.

I did train the 15'1" a lot until last year when my daughter was born. After that I've still trained, but a lot less.

So, it is not always about the amount of training. Or gym.
Hell, I won the 18' spey and I've cast that event an hour tops this year including four times on the platform for 6 minutes during competitions.

So, it would seem, at least in my case, that training is needed to reach the level, but getting back there doesn't take that much. Thou, performance variation can be bigger than with a lot of training I guess. I think that being calm, confident and enjoying the situation is more important for me to get good performance.
I'm here just for the chicks.

Sadly (for me, at least) I cannot make the commitment to the endeavour but good luck with a British team; I sincerely hope it comes to meaningful fruition

No I don't think so. But that hasn't been discussed.
