Glass is fun to fish with in the right circumstances
i fished once a graphite rod loomis gl3 that imitated a bit of a glass rod or at least with the top that made some curvy bends when playing a fish. i wasnt much experienced at the time with different actioned rods so this loomis took me half an hour or so to make a decent cast. at the end of the day i kind of like it, but felt that like the guy from the film a landing net would be handy. the difference with a glass was the weight me think - a similar action glass or bamboo rod as they say, kind of cast by itself being heavy, but this carbon rod was lightweight, so i had to adjust a bit to make it work.

I honestly do no find them any heavier than graphite in the small sizes. I think there was a bit of dramatic effect going on on that film. My biggest problem is small flies;
