The Switch Cast (Jump Roll)

To be honest Andy I think it's a bit of nonsense. Bunging the line on the ground with a Switch Cast relies upon having a nice clear runway to do it. Whenever I'm fishing there is either water or a jungle there. Far better to learn an aerielised dynamic D with an anchor - otherwise you'll need to take a strimmer with you fishing.

I think it may be a week or two before I can report back ,because its below 10c for the next few weeks and my lousy circulation means I feel the cold and my hands are numb .
Once it warms a bit I will have a bash ,especially as there i s a bit of the concrete bowl that has recently been what looks like tarmacked !a perfect place to dump my wiggly D loop,(maybe)!

I'm very familiar with the problems of fishing off dams, Andy, having spent many years of my life fishing from one. Even with the trajectory/BC problems an OH cast is always going to go further for me.

This conversation brings back some great memories! Standing on my net One of my most important moments was being taught at 14 how to fish buzzers by a bearded man who I didn't know, who had just caught his limit in a thunderstorm. Only us two were fishing and after he left I went on to catch a 6lb rainbow. I can still see the take even now.

Sorry I don't speak Italian yet. But where is it measured 40m? 40m is over 130ft

Go to the end, they measure the cast by measuring the line cast against the length of the rod, which is supposed to be a 10 footer adds up everything and its a 40+ cast according to the clip kinda like you usually does it, when the rest of us use a measuring tape

And yes I was very lucky. I was given a fly rod at 10 or 11 years old. It took a while to learn imitative. But then I was even luckier working on a fishery. I was fishing Stillwater dry fly in '86 independently of the comp guys on Grafham (which Andy will know about). And later I used to fish with the guy who invented the Hopper before Horsey discovered it. He was a first class angler. But the fishing I'm doing right now is the best

What, even with the funny calculater making 13*3,048 over 41 (it's 39,62) and all
I've done close to 30 with a 9 footer and a longbelly 5, pretty sure I can get over with a ten footer and a DT, so I'd believe 34 ish...... Length of line is never the distance achieved, but they might not claim that though, we need Mike to translate no idea what lineweight and taper, but I do know they love DT's for this cast. And yeah, nice caster!
