Travel Practice Rods
Hello everyone,
I would like to canvas your opinions on travel practice rods. I earn my living skippering small commercial boats in the UK. So taking a full sized rod for practice is out of the question.
If anyone has used any of the practice rods as is willing to offer advice that would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Andy

The Echo MPR is the best of the bunch, perfect for indoors... the Reddington version is good outdoors.

Echo MPR, you can get a shootinghead outfit for it to practice hauling, and a handle extension to practice twohanded.
I am biased though, married into the european distributor.. All the other copies of the MPR works ok too
Cheers

A 10wt DT salmon line works fairly well, with a 60lb 18 inch tippet. It was sensitive to fly size, kicked without one and was pedestrian with a golf ball sized piece of fluff, so I halved it. Very good for rolls and speys. A heavier line would be better but I don’t have one.
