I often asked myself "what will I tell this time, and what is to much".
Sorry Simon. I can't help you with this. I have to little experience with giving demo's and always try to avoid it. :D

For me it would be a huge gain, if there would be a place on sexyloops where we can see subjects to tell, based on the expected audience.
So Paul, get you arse out of the jungle and make some space were we can dump this stuff. King Bart commands you :p

Hi Simon

Is it the fair I'll be at too or something smaller?

Answers will depend on it :D

Haha. You’ll have to explain that better King Bart!

Demos - I try not to swear but some audiences are fine. Apart from that I can’t think of anything. Pulling out students from the audience for me doesn’t work. Sometimes even the funniest jokes don’t work in Denmark. It’s best to be fully prepared. To be honest most demos now cover the same old ground and they are dull. Mine included - so I’ve stopped for a while!

I always try to find out what others are doing so you don’t immediately cover what’s just been done.

Apart from that have fun!! :)))

Oh yes one last thing - if you are going to teach what someone else has taught you then give them credit. That way if it doesn’t work you can blame them :p

Cheers, Paul

Hi Simon,

Do not use your time to criticize other teachers/instructors; use your time to put forth your positive thoughts
on a matter of casting/fishing.

It bores the shit out of me when a demonstrator gets up on the platform and starts off with going negative on another instructor.

Thanks guys that was my toughts pretty much.

Yes Lasse it's that fair, Jönköping :)

And also a smaller fair in Sundsvall later in May. It will only be me and Staffan. Do you know how much time we will get in Jönköping Lasse?

I was thinking about talking about wind since it's something everyone will encounter sooner or later.

Give credit is something thats almost disapered in the world of fly fishing. I always do my best to do this when teaching.

Bart,

As Lasse noted, sadly it does.

Confidence comes with practiced skill presentation, and then fun kicks in < those go a long way in having an audience remain engaged.

Have fun Simon - take time to smile during your presentation.

Great Simon, will look forward to hear it :)

I haven't seen the floorplan yet, but I guess it will be the same huge pool, and that presents a few problems! First of you have to move alot, or choose a side. Standing in the middle and you need to be bold and loud, otherwise it will be hard to both hear what you say (speakers only work so well..) and you'll be so far away that its hard to see what you are presenting (light is usually also crap, fat lines in bright colours please) and best, keep it simple! Martin Jorgensen has a great article on his site, globalflyfisher.com about demos. Most interesting ones are fun, light, easy and inspiring.

The last couple of times we had 15 minutes, it used to be 30 but its cut down to allow more time for the public to try gear, and that also makes for more interesting demos ;)
