Why don't you advertise this is Facebook? I'm certain there are plenty of old Rimfly's lying around that no one uses.

(Un?)Fortunately I don't have any :-).

I will but I thought I’d give the Board opportunity first.

I have one of the old STH reels from Nick Ooi that I swapped for a Thunderbolt Tropical 6. So OK the Malaysian flycasting/fishing teams got first pick!

Cheers, Paul

Paul,

The only thing that I don't want is reels that self wind when casting - this is a huge flaw in reel design

This is a quite good point. I think most modern fly reels have this fault. The reason is the one-way clutch and the clicker working in one direction only - too little friction in one direction. AFAIK the rimfly was different and had the clicker acting in both directions. Maybe actual reels could be somehow modified, that they don't show this effect.
Look also on ebay, sometimes you can get there almost new rimfly reels.

There was actually two clickers on the rimfly that could be mysteriously adjusted that didn’t make any difference to performance. This reel on the other hand http://www.sexyloops.com/picofday/stuff/grassdrag.shtml needed to be stuffed with grass to keep it working.

Cheers. Paul
