Why does the 170/stopless work
Due to a right-to-left wind I ended up turning round and delivering my backcast in a #7 BFCC comp once - I came 2nd with 129ft, beaten by Matt Tonkin (a left hander) who threw 131.

Why does the 170/stopless work
Hi Graeme,
With lined rings it doesn’t matter; the flyline won’t run along the blank. With the HT10 I turn the first section in by about 60 degrees (because of the angle of the frame), the top out to 45 degrees and the middle splitting these two angles. I fish it this way too.
I would build it that way but I’m sure I’d have a lot of returns
Cheers, Paul

The Acid Wrap? It’s not acid; it’s geometry. I spend months working out the angles.

Didn't that prebend rod with more than usual eyes also have that years back?
Where's Magnum when we need him!

We have discussed making them that way but the problem is that they are either left or right handed. At least with the way I do it they can be reshuffled. I can’t tell you how many people take the rod and straighten the rings. They look at me like I’m a bit daft for making a simple mistake

Go six piece, it'll make it easier to turn the rings into acid wrap

I don't want to lose the integrity of the rod because of a rings configuration fetish! It's not *that* critical
