I am thinking about buying some cheap DT lines for training carry.
Is there a reason to not buy cheap ones? You would think the taper’s are much alike.

I tried e-bay £5.99 lines last year and they cracked up pretty quickly so I had to replace them often. They worked out about the same price overall as a Barrio line except the Barrio line casts better and is lasting longer. And that's at my level of ability.

The Chinese ones that I have dont have a cracking problem but they do feel sightly rough. Also the are a soft coating - probably not the best for training. However they are manufactured genuinely to weight! Yay :D

It's an exploration; bring a flyrod.

I’ve been using one of these for some time with no problems:

Thanks for the input.

@Vince. That looks like an excellent line and color.
Do you know how long it is and if it is approx. conform AFTMA?

Mine does but I'm aware of the odd hiccup. They are a good bunch of guys, if you ask them they will check yours before they send it.

Regards

Vince

I snooze, I lose. They seem to be gone now. I could only find hi viz WFs on their site and (regular viz) DTs up to 5wt. Would have wanted a 6wt.

Furthermore, Barrio seems to be out of stock when it comes to DTs.

(Fly lines cost quite a bit these days.)

Hi Jarmo,

I bought a couple on Ali express.
They arrived today, after 2 months.
They cost around 7euros a piece.

Greetings Bart.

That is cheap indeed but on the slow side now that I am late of the bus anyway.

Still, let us know how you find them. And thanks for the tip.
