... and then they go "pseudo-metric" with thousandths of an inch!
Whatever works. As long as the data is recorded consistently, we can deal with it. Once it's in a database, calculations on fields are easy.

Re: Datatables
Sounds good. I’m just in the middle of a very long server upgrade from MySQL to MariaDB. Once this is complete I can tidy up these database tables.
I shall be keying in the information. It’s simpler!
I am wondering about how many entries we are going to get. It would be an option to have a database for each line class. The problem with that is if you want to search by true AFFTA weight (which is very handy) then you lose the ability to quickly compare lines of different line classes. So I’m of the opinion that we just stick everything in one table. We will undoubtedly end up with 100s of entries over time. I’ll probably put 30 in there alone.
Cheers, Paul

Re: Datatables
How to deal with old lines? Have two dates - submission date and in notes say that the line is from year X?
Re: Datatables
That’s funny Paul... perhaps it’s a U.K. thing, I do the same and mix and match all the time....
ordering timber at the sawmill-.... “I need 60 rails, 4.2m long in 4” by 2”...”
But you definitely need to stick to one... metric or imperial, but using both is a bit nuts for the rest of the world....

Remember that ERN is not the line number, there is a half point difference. An ERN 5.5 means a #5 line.
And ERN does not measure rod stiffness in fact, mechanically speaking, it is a mass scale.

Re: Datatables
Balances have arrived. Testing them on coins they appear to be 0.01g out. The instructions say they should be calibrated with a 500g mass which is interesting because the balances only go up to 200g
I have some new lines from SA that I can measure when I’ve sharpened up the datatable.
Cheers, Paul
