I can ask SA and RIO but I think we know the answer, Merlin - it’s what most customers want!! The manufacturers are driven by sales and lines that are heavier fit the stiff action rods that their customers can’t cast using their fixed casting stroke with correctly weighted lines. It’s simple really, they bought the wrong rod and are in serious need of some casting practise/tuition. The band aid fix is to sell them a heavier line. I will ask for some comments shortly - they may not be quite so blunt
Lasse, I think having the line straighten between casts would be a good idea.
I think what you will find is lighter lines on the same rod will have a faster cycle. Also I think you will find that lighter lines on rods of the same relative stiffness will also have a faster cycle - that one I’m not so sure about, but when I drop rod class on the HT series I have a noticeably faster casting cycle.
This stuff is important here!
Cheers, Paul
