When casting up to say 25 meters there is simply no need to do so and I get better loops, more control, and less "dangle" by rotating more evenly through the stroke. The rotation of the rod by the wrist mostly comes in at the end of the stroke of course, but I do not try to first "drag" the rod along and then rotate it. Rotate smootly and evenly(?). Start slowly finish fast. There is a movie somewhere with Steve Rajeff talking about this - I will see if I can find it.

It's an exploration; bring a flyrod.

To be clear: I was referring to my Andy Warhol moment on the video, my 15 seconds of fame...

It might be one for the physics forum but I think we can generate higher line speed through rotation only rather than rotation plus translation post MCL. But it might have to do with the ‘Self Deceleration Mechanism’ that two people understand. Or indeed how the body functions - fast joints!

I do believe that 3 (bottom) is far superior to 1 (top) for distance. But I use 1 for accuracy having learned this from one of Steve’s demos in Idaho Falls.

We need to meet and cast Craig! :D

Cheers, Paul

Art is not easy. But these foam sheets will make great popper heads.

Having zero slo-mo capabilities nor bead-chains to piss people off with, far be it for me to declare what is and what is not, but.... :glare: ... I dare say that Steve's distance stroke is a marriage of 1 and 3... if I am understanding your Artwork.

And yes, we do need to meet for a cast or two - better yet, fish interviewing !
