I made up a shooting head specifically for one spot in the Bahamas (a blue hole that Mark had snorkelled over and tipped me off that there were monsters down there - from the description I think they were goliath groupers). Anyway, I got the densest line I could find, a Rio Leviathan, this was pretty much identical to a T38 head in weight and length. I was casting it out into the hole, waiting for it to sink and then retrieving it vertically up the walls. With the heavily weighted fly I reckon I was fishing at about 100ft depth whilst stood on dry land.VGB wrote: ↑Sat Apr 01, 2023 5:55 am Hi John
I don’t know of anyone that uses T-38 for fishing either, I’ve used a #10 in the surf with strong winds for trevally. It could be used from a boat in deep water for trout. Much easier to use in that situation than 2 weight in the surf with strong winds.
