Swing thoughts

It is interesting to note that many of these experimental movements and patterns seem to be beneficial for a short while, then lose their effectiveness under real-world circumstances.
Weird innit ? 🙂

Sorry I don’t know where the quote came from!
It's an exploration; bring a flyrod.

It is, Mark, but I think that the exploration is as, if not more, important than the results. Constantly exploring ways to improve keeps the stroke fresh. There are a hell of a lot of presentation casts that have really quite limited use, but what they enable is exploring and learning movement variations.

For example in my courses, I’ve noticed that more than a few times now, that both Speys and Presentation classes have lifted the students all-round casting ability. In other words their overhead cast is better in ways that just working on their overhead cast wouldn’t have produced.

I’m convinced now that the best way to improve someone’s stroke is to do so in an entirely different stroke! I’ve suspected this for a long time but the courses have really seemed to affirm this.

Cheers, Paul

I picked up on that point as well. True, but no idea why it happens.

No argument from me on constantly exploring Paul.

There is an alternative to “wood” and in tribute to Andy and Phil’s golf analogy I’m going to call it the “4w drive” where “4w” is “would work with work” or maybe the “2w drive” which is just, “won’t work” 🙂
