New site coming…

#1

Post by Paul Arden »

I’m having a new website built by a professional.

And not before time!

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions that we can consider implementing?

In addition to the current FP I plan a “quote of the day”. I also plan a full glossary for site navigation.

Thanks, Paul

The amount of good information on this site is staggering. Many times over the years I have stumbled upon an article or commentary that wasn't listed anywhere. So, for me, a site map of at least the categories would be a big help.

Perhaps that is what you were saying with, "a full glossary".

Hi Steve, yes that is the plan or something like that. It’s difficult to generate a site map with in excess of 10,000 pages. But an integrated glossary with accurate tagging should bring previous and hidden content more to the fore.

It's been a big lift, hasn't it. Glad the lifting is nearly complete. Hope it didn't cost tooooo much!

I don’t mind paying the $$ if the quality is there. He seems like a good chap, was recommended to me by my hosting company and he fly fishes. The last part sold it to me!

Although he doesn’t want a flycasting lesson. So he’s not perfect.

The "search" function is not helpful when searching the titel of a thread.
When e.g. searching for the titel " Why I dont like fishing the MED" - that incorperates about 90% of the real titel, I only get hits with all the fractions of the search, the titel is not found at all.

On the Board? You can specify that in the advanced search options. The CMS of Sexyloops will have a different search function to what we have now. We are also going to go right through Sexyloops and tag everything properly. This might take a year :D
