Good beginners outfit

#1

Post by Paul Arden »

Hi folks,

Can you advise me on what is a good beginners outfit for Quebec CA. Buying in Canada. I’m thinking 5 or 6WT.

Thanks!
Paul

I think the kits from Echo would be a good starting point. I have an Echo Gecko rod, it is a nice rod but wouldn’t recommend it for a beginner unless it is for a child.

The Orvis Clearwater/Encounter kits seems to get good critique also.

In Sweden/Europe something based around Guideline Elevation.

Or just go for the Hot Torpedo. It’s where it will end up either way 😅

For an inexpensive rod, have a look at Taylor's Dynamix. https://www.taylorflyfishing.com/dynamix
