Strokes in Distance Casting
Hi
While on the subject, just a quick question about trajectory.
Do you guys always aim high, or you adjusting it to the wind conditions?
In still conditons( thats my main cocern) when I aim high, after the loop unrols its high from the ground and happens that it fals back, and the entire landing is shit.
When I aim lower( always in still contidions), I have the feeling of the loop traveling faster and as there is less distance to the ground the landing and straight presentation is better.
.....or is it about speed again? Fast- High traveling loop will have enough momentum to straighten high and still pull some line while landing?
Cheers
Mike

With tail wind or no wind, I aim high, Mike.

Nice shot Paul
Ok, but have you notice any difference in delivery layout?- Like all the line from the platform goes out, but the fly lands few feet shorter as the line move backwards during landing in non wind coditions?

That's not really high is it Paul, your loop is about 10 feet above the water.Paul Arden wrote:With tail wind or no wind, I aim high, Mike.

I aim up at about 30 degrees. This is because once the loop has unrolled the line will still continue shooting forward. I don't expect it to be perfectly straight! But aiming higher definitely gives my fly more distance even if it places more slack.

I'm quite sure that loop is coming down Lasse and not climbing up!
