Torque Twist

Nice FP from Gary today...

Yes it could very well be the Micro Wrist, mini Thrust, Powersnap phenomenon. Or it could be shocking the rod in a form of Pull-Back.

Ashly is down in KL at the moment but when she is back I will shoot some slow motion video with the Instructor rod. I meant to do it last week but I forgot the white rod!

I’m going to put a beer on it against Lasse that we see the S-shape of a forced unloading rod. Preferably a Bosnian Beer and not a Swedish Beer if I lose :D

Why? You may ask. I think the results are so dramatic that the line’s behaviour seems much more like pull-back (reversed torque) than a Powersnap. I’ve also seen the characteristic S-shape occur on a Stopless 170 backcast, where I know that I’m not using Pull-back to force the unload. So I think with this Torque Twist we are shocking the rod.

But it’s all beer and bubbles. I’ll make sure street casting is the first thing I do when Ashly returns. I’m very curious now! Jack sounds like quite a character by the way

Cheers, Paul

I'll put a beer against you that the s-shape isn't proof of a forces unloading of the rod 😉

Didn't you use to have a page on the tourque twist? I used to teach it for advanced rollcasting in like 2004, and I sure didn't come up with the concept myself!

Probably. I can’t be expected to remember everything, Lasse. The number of times I’ve discovered something that I had previous discovered and subsequently forgotten is... well I’ve forgotten exactly how often this has happened. But quite a lot :D

But that’s not this point :p This is a different application being used for speed shots. It also extends distance for the PUALD shooting shot.

It’s not just a small difference. In this Snakehead game it opens doors.

Actually the twist I do with the delivery on dynamic rolls I think is a force application. But with the Snakehead shot, I think it’s pull-back. With the roll cast I am more inclined to rotate the elbow through the stroke. With Snakehead this would cause a tracking problem and I am twisting in place of the stop.

Same thing but different! Video is the answer :pirate:

Same but same, increasing tipspeed and subsequently line velocity 😉

Looking forward to the videos!

What is this torque twist?
Is this rotating the rod around its axis or thrusting?

Rotating the rod around its axis, sometimes while thrusting 😉

Menno in Holland also told me he does this. He made the comparison with the grooves in a gun.
Not sure how he exactly explained it, but I didn't buy it. I might have been wrong
You guys believe in this concept? How does it help?

It’s a form of forced unload.

Well if it is a form of forced unload, which is not certain yet, then it will result in a higher tip speed. And before you ask yes I have tried it in overhead distance but I can’t get the tip to track straight!

When Ash is back I’ll shoot some video.
