Longest measured 5WT casts?

Hi folks,

Bruce asked me what the longest 5WT MED casts have even. I said I didn’t know but I think around 45-50m. Maybe we could fill these in?

Longest cast in comp?
Longest measured cast in practise?
Longest cast indoors in comp?
Longest cast indoors in practise?
Longest PUALD? I assume we only know this outdoors?

(as longest)of 38.13m not long ago ( there is video)

OUTDOOR PRACTICE/ VIRTUAL COMP
- Bernt Johansson 48.6m ( there is a video), not sure why Bernt did not include it in standings?
- Bernt Johansson 47.7m (no video)
- Bernt Johansson 47.5m (no video)
- Stefano De Martini 47.3m ( video recorded), super cast, but Stefano said that being at 2000m above sea level helped lot

I know Steve Rajeff made a cast of around 38.5m indoors at a Best of the West competition. However, I can’t find those results online.

The flycasting club in Gothenburg Sweden had a competition a few years ago. The day after the competition some of the competitors returned to the venue to cast just for fun. It was a field of grass located right by the sea in Askim, a suburb close to Gothenburg. Anyway, if I´m not mistaken Bernt made a cast that went over 50 meters. I was not there myself but Stefan Siikaavara was and he should be able to confirm this.

Wow- who else if not Bernt.
I reckon in a perfect conditions 50m in TD is doable.
First I thought this guy is an alien, hitting 47+
I set a high goal to myself to match Bernt at 46.10, it took long time but I did it.
Even backing hit the reel, which means it could go further.

Those are casts are rare, and don't happen to often and you have to work for them- but they are possible.

I wonder myself where is the limit of MED 5wt?
If all the planets align, wind would be perfect, and your casting is the most perfect in the World when would the MED run out of steam?

The results I posted were with 10wt written on the blank, a part from Ronny Landin who had 5wt written on the blank, I think it was a Hardy Angel T2( could be wrong), but I'm not sure what ERN & AA where on it.

That’s huge. To do that in 3 or 4 casts is a big ask.
