Hi guys,
Finally my research has ended as I found a perfect boat for me, and within my budget, plus a bit coin left if I need to do something.
2004 Galeforce 4.8 side console.
As I was concerned with hull age, I had a nice long phone call to Tony, and he told me that if nobody messes up with drilling in the transom or the floor this build( the way he did) will last ages.
Full inspection done yesterday on the water and off the water
Outboard Honda 75hp with 261hrs on it. Compression test - ALL GOOD, With hydrofoil and "HyDrive" hydrolic steering
Deposit paid, just waiting for the RWC of the trailer and EPIRB replacement and she is coming home next Saturday.
Last Saturday I went to see 2 GF 5.5m and this 4.8m one ( as a,wing man I had a mate who owns 6m one)
The 5.5m had a nice hull, but the list of to do and to improve was to big for my inexperience.
As soon I had a look at the 4.8 I like it straight away and that moment one guy posted on the forum a picture of 1m Longtail Tuna from his 4.8- decision made- I don't need more.

Here some pictures from yesterday inspection
Cheers
Mike

Very nice :yeahhh:

Is that a sounder screen I see near the trolling motor?

Send me your address. I’ll send some over next time I’m in town!

Cheers, Paul

Interesting little boat. Looks like somebody knew what he was doing and fished it hard. You can certainly have fun with something like that.
My guess is you may want to add trim tabs. Time will tell, but they make a big difference in ride, particularly in weather, even on small boats.
Two boat forums that are excellent sources for good information are Thehulltruth and Microskiff.
Post some pictures of what you catch.

Hi Michal,

In my experience with getting into range of tuna with a boat it is hull slap more than engine noise that puts them down. Go around wide and get upwind, put the boat into neutral and drift back to them. Sometimes though it is not the boat but the way they are feeding and can only keep bait pushed to the surface for small periods of time.

Cheers Chris, those feeding periods are really short, but if you pull one from a short window it's more rewarding.

Cheers
