When is unloading happening?
Cheers

Flycasting, so simple that instructors need to make it complicated since 1685

Hi Lasse
Unloading happens some time (a question of ms) after maximum rotational speed has been achieved. It is even delayed if one uses a haul with proper timing.

Just seen this…absolutely agree.John Waters wrote: ↑Sat Jan 14, 2023 10:08 pm May I suggest Torsten add a definition of impulse to the Glossary of Fly Casting terms.
It does not get the focus required,

Re: Some questions about Delayed Rotation/ rotational hit
Hi Merlin
Thanks, but that begs the question of what is proper timing?
And it also means we can't go by the amount of bend in the rod.

Lasse,And it also means we can't go by the amount of bend in the rod.
Can you explain what you mean by that claim that the loading (i.e. potential energy in the rod) is not directly proportional to the perpendicular tip deflection?

Hi Gordy
Same for the chord, the pull angle varies and the spring is non linear
