Knotty little problem, isn’t it :D

Regards

Vince
It is Vince. But, isn't it fun when you can read your loop and make adjustments accordingly.

For instance, I was having issues making long casts with a 9 wt and a heavy fly into the wind fishing in the surf. At first my fly would kick up on layout. Not enough to to tail or tangle, but enough to rob distance. The challenge then became what to change to accommodate. I tried to hit later but struggled. Lasse ended up helping me realize less arc would make timing more simple with the heavier rod and fly. So, I took out some wrist set which eliminated some early rotation, added some translation and easily made the adjustment.

A fun knotty little problem.

Happy New Year Vince.

hand path
rotation
translation
acceleration
rapid acceleration
timing of rotation or rapid acceleration
Yes…👍👍

Did Lasse diagnose the bits to be twiddled without seeing anything at all?

Happy New Year to you as well 🍺🥃

Vince

Yes he did. I don’t remember my exact description but it had to do with bigger rod and fly and difficulty with the loop. He nailed it for me.

Television uses the term “layout” to mean shut the “f” up. I’m gonna layout on that one Vince. In fact, one of my 2024 intentions is to do so more often.
