Paul,

I am shocked to see that you have stooped to using electronics! :(

The other day I was fed a suggestion on YouTube about "FFS".

Thinks I - What does FFS have to do with fly fishing? FFS has always been a shorthand for a statement of incredulity... at least that is what I thought?

Turns out FFS is also shorthand for "Forward Facing Sonar" - a new mode of fish finding electronics for advanced "anglers".

FFS!

When are you getting yours? :D

Bollocks to that. :D I use it to determine water temperature. Apart from that it atttacts Snakehead that then spook when they see the boat. So it’s not particularly useful!

What I have learned is the depth of the thermocline at various times of year. That some snakehead appear to live there and rise to breathe. (OK I’ve watched one come up from the bottom.) That sonar doesn’t work well in algae waters. That it is cheating elsewhere (like Polaroid sunglasses were when they first came out :p ). That Snakehead with babies cruise at around 10’ with their babies, sometimes. And that the lake is a flooded jungle (which is of no surprise!).

I think the rules of this thread is that you need to post a picture to reply :pirate:

Cheers!
