Re: Farbank/Rio/Sage

Looks like there is profile diagrams for their top end lines, just not the Mainstream series. Still no 30ft weights tho.

Farbank/Rio/Sage

What are Farbank playing at merging the Sage and Rio (plus others) websites? As far as I can see, the fly lines section no longer shows taper profile or weights at 30ft  The Sage part no longer has a rodbuilders section showing guidespacings and sizes for all their current and past models :( S...

Re: Roy Christie

This is very sad to hear. I met him once at Coggeshall with you Paul. You told me Rev Para was coming and i didnt know what you meant! If my memory serves me right we drank far too much and stayed up very late tying ridiculously small flies. Think i still have some flies here he gave me. Great guy. ...

Re: Fly Line for beginners?

I'm pretty sure when i was sold a 9'6" 7wt XP a million years ago, i was told i'd need an 8 line to load it, may have been a 444sl or possibly Wulff TT. Rod was way beyond my skill level but it actually made me want to learn how to cast, and led me to Sexyloops. Over 20 yrs later i'm still here...

Re: Currently visiting UK from NZ - I have one weekend to fish, where should I go?

Hi Phil, i'm not sure who's on the board from that area. Paul will likely know someone. Lee Cummings is based in the Lake District (Millom), excellent fisherman and instructor. If he sees this i'm sure he'd be able to suggest something. Alternatively you could ring John Norris tackle shop and see if...

Re: How do you like your butts?

Yeah it may come down to aesthetics for me. On rods without fighting butts and half wells grips I prefer wooden seat inserts. With metal/carbon inserts on fighting butts and full wells.

Actually I may want to use it for light salt occasionally so fighting butt and metal seat might be the way to go.

How do you like your butts?

Whats everyones thoughts on fighting butts and full wells on 9' 6wt fly rods. Paul tells me about 1 in 10 HT6's are ordered this way. I think when I throw for distance I use the butt on the back cast, tucked into the forearm below the wrist and levered over with late rotation. Apart from this i'm no...

Re: Sage 3250 reel

Update on this. Sage customer service responded saying none of the current range spools fit the 3250 (to be expected really but worth trying!)

If anyone comes across any old stock anywhere online, could you give me a heads up here?

Cheers
