Re: Structuring multiple lessons

I doubt it John. :) If there is confusion it comes from two sources. One is that some of the concepts and terminology being used are still largely unfamiliar to the casting instructor community Phew! I was beginning to think it was just me. :( Ya'll would not believe how much stuff I've downloaded ...

Re: OK... Rod configuration effect on the line?

Paul, Curiously, this past weekend I attended a small gathering and someone put one of the new Sage Core8 Salt (or whatever) models into my hand. The group was all gushing about how great it was, and how expensive it was, and how anyone could be a great caster if they could afford the now higher tha...

Re: OK... Rod configuration effect on the line?

OK...

I see that I am failing to ask the question clearly. :(

I am not saying that tip path and line layout are not important. In fact, I believe that every current stroke is heavily dependent on the quality of the previous one.

I'll try to clarify my question and try again later.

FFi MCI test: comments and suggestions

Folks, The FFi is reaching out for comments or suggestions on the current MCI test. A revision is apparently in the works, and they are looking for feedback, both positive and negative, so they can improve it. I think they are only polling current assessors and MCIs, but I may be wrong. But, if you ...

Re: OK... Rod configuration effect on the line?

I’m pretty sure the lack of feedback I get from the rod is what causes me to look especially at my BC. The signal to look is when I don’t feel anything in my hand. Vinny, Out of curiosity... the feedback you are "looking" for - are you looking for it primarily in your rod hand, or in your...

Re: OK... Rod configuration effect on the line?

Hi Paul, Yes of course. It’s not very much fun using a poker, but absolutely. I think they all come down to tip path, line configuration at the beginning of the stroke, and perhaps a little bit of loop morphing. OK... but lets ignore morphing for a second - I'm only thinking about short / fishing le...

Can’t you do them all with a rigid rod?

OK... Rod configuration effect on the line?

Just curious...

How do y'all shape your loops?

I mean otherwise than simple narrow vs. wide loops.

Like pointed vs. round, or curved, or over vs. horizontal vs. underslung, etc..

Doesn't it come down to how the rod is shaped right before and up to loop launch?

Re: Power pro braid fails

Lou, Most of my leaders for fishing here in South Florida are made from Ande mono. It is relatively inexpensive, comes in 1/4# spools (a lifetime supply) and has a nice amount of stiffnes. If you can find the "Ghost" variety, I think it is even better, since it seems to be the regular stuf...

Re: Structuring multiple lessons

Too easily we can get stuck in a rut. Trying to make small changes to an existing stroke that don’t stick. Developing an entirely new but related (almost all casts are related) stroke is the better way I think. But it’s not the obvious thing to do! Cheers, Paul Paul, Very much enjoyed this FP. Over...
