Thanks Vince, yes it was the second one I had in mind.
Cheers, Paul

Re: Structuring multiple lessons
If I’m really focussed on the task at hand that focus then becomes narrow. That why people who are on their phones all the time walk into lampposts, or have car crashes. If I’m in competition I doubt I’ll even know you are there. I agree Mark, a visual target is best. But when we can’t watch the one...

I threw a snowball at Jason Borger in Colorado while fishing. He didn’t duckIf I threw a ball at you from the side while you are casting, I guarantee you will duck

Re: Addressing My Loch Style Casting Issues
And why is it that a kick occurs? Energy not being able to transfer into leader? Yes it actually kicks back. It’s similar to casting a flyline without any leader at all. There are some videos on this somewhere. I can’t remember if it was Nick or James or Gordy who posted it. I don’t know why placin...

Re: Structuring multiple lessons
I know I’m looking at the targets Vince because I’ve spent a very long time training this. Really learning to pick targets on a distance cast is important. Similarly with a shot I’m always aware of my back target and where it is positioned, despite not watching it. This is key. Distance casting goes...

Re: Structuring multiple lessons
That’s fair enough Mark. I don’t of course and I want to see them develop a closed stance cast as well. Initially being semi-open for everything is fine, because they are developing loop control. But later on I take that and divide it into two initially, with Closed Stance and Open Stance Distance. ...

Re: Structuring multiple lessons
This applies to shots, targets, all casts in fact. It takes a very long time for it to occur subconsciously when shot taking. Consequently the competition target game is an excellent training discipline for learning this spacial awareness (for a more advance caster of course). And then I would move...

Re: Structuring multiple lessons
Hi Vince, I don’t think monitoring the loop is very effective. I think we need two targets and we need to either look to them first, which means to the next one while the loop is still unrolling to the current one, or we need to position them by looking at one and imagining the second. I can think o...

Re: Structuring multiple lessons
I totally agree Mark. The reason I brought it up is because target accuracy is one way that casters can learn to throw accurate backcasts without watching them. There are a number of cues that can be used for positioning the back target in their minds. The first is that the front target and rear tar...

Re: Structuring multiple lessons
Being able to choose both our body position and casting alignment is the exception. Usually I can cast with my shoulders square to the target if I want. There are certainly times when this is not possible. But given the choice of I can get into this position I will. I can certainly cast with the sh...
