Re: Loose grip no squeeze stop?

I must say, the amount of detail involved in fly casting is amazing. I’ve never seen a discussion about using spinning gear or baitcasting rods and reels anywhere near this level. Back to the discussion... I don’t recall having seen or read anything about the Joan Wulff “sponge grip”. Is this anyth...

Re: Loose grip no squeeze stop?

Hi Carol,

Ahh...cool, understood.

While teaching at The Wulff School I use (of course) Joan's grip, but it is not how I hold/grip a rod when out and about on my own: I use the Key Grip or some bastardization of... ;)

Hi Phil,

Ok several things here. ...

The nice thing is I don’t have to repeat myself now, as I would in the field, because it’s all written above :D

Re: Leaders for students

I use RIO Powerflex Trout leaders: 3-pack, knotless tapered 7.5 or 9', 1x or 2x. Change out tippet when needed. Hot pink yarn for fly.

Happy Spring!
