Re: Hey guys/ladies from Florida/New York

Hi Vinny, I’m up in Homossa and mostly fish the Chassahowitzka Wildlife Refuge, just a few miles from my doorstep. I get down in your area occasionally and love do the beach snook sight fishing.

Re: An artistic interpretation of my addiction

Wow that's some stunning photography/videography Gary ... and nice fishing also. Totally legit. I wish we had the juvenile tarpon fishery up here around Homosassa ... just the big ones that come around each spring and a smaller population of year-round residents.

Re: Hauling too late

It's really about the timing of the maximum speed and force of the haul, isn't it? I try to make the maximum speed and force of the haul occur at the almost exactly the same time as the maximum speed and force of the cast (back cast and forward cast). I don't know if this is sound physics or if I ac...

Cheers, Paul
Thanks ... I'll give it a try the next time I'm in that situation!

Re: Sedotti demo

Michael, thanks for the additional videos, which I study more closely tomorrow (it’s still yesterday in my time zone 😵💫). I’ll have to try the 170-style delivery on a backcast delivery.

Re: Sedotti demo

.. The OBS is very much a shootinghead, and the short rear taper and the thin runningline doesn't go well with a longer carry. It does however shoot quite well, so its about getting the right amount of overhang, and a early release. Then it will go to the backing if linespeed is right. Thanks Lasse...

Re: Sedotti demo

Michael ... thanks for the MacTuna video. This situation is very similar to what I encounter here on the Florida Gulf Coast with Jack Crevalle. They pop up in a bay or tidal river forcing bait to the surface. Besides the quick cast, the challenge is always clearing the line once the hookup is made, ...

Re: Sedotti demo

Thanks for the replies Michael and Paul. They give me some points of reference to compare to my own measurements and what I feel. I have been using the OBS this year, sometimes one size down (#8 OBS with a #9 Sage Method), as well as the SA Tropical Titan and other brick-on-a-string lines. For me th...

Re: Sedotti demo

Hi Michael ... I'm curious how much line you are carrying (not including the leader) with the Outbound Short vs. how much you are shooting to reach 100 ft.

Re: Leader connections

I cut the loop off. Then for my salt water #7, 8 and 9 lines I use the snell knot that Flip demonstrates in one of the videos to attach about 5 feet of 25 lb Rio Hard Mono Saltwater Tippet. This material is .024" and quite stiff. The next step up in this material (30 lb) is very unmanageable wh...
