Don't under estimate your popper at the right places on the top.
I have only caught one it was 10 centimeters tan zonker tail with few raps of cross cut zonker behind the eye with small bead chain eyes using inter line.
my friends caught with similar flies as well.

If I was you I get something like it, with the family I wouldn't go outside, stay in the estuaries or lakes.
Myself I go out on calmer days, even with a bigger boat, I wouldn't take the family out if it's not calm.

just came back from Keepit. fishing was very easy, going to the locations in boat than fishing the shores, 100 fish a day was no problem between the 3 of us, before the rain comes down. As you mentioned mostly smaller ones, around 40 to 60 cm, very few big ones that we used to catch before. We plane...
