Matt's Sunday Page
Matt That was a great FP - thanks. I might join you in that hole. As my skills have increased I like less and less lines that are over the standard or too heavy. It is most often not possible to get the info you like. I now weigh my lines on the citchen scale (reasonably accurate - the local drug de...

Back pain and fly fishing.
I am a quack and back pain - I mean my god- who can sort all that out? I will offer a solace of sort. When we (the old farts) wake up and there is no pain - we are dead.

The Triangle Method
My teaching experience is short but I agree - superb exercise. I have been talking one step further and have introduced hauls into the equation. It has worked very well, and students seem to understand the haul better since they see its effects clearly I guess.

You are not alone (now there are now at least 2 in Florida)! I love reading your FPs and todays was excellent. We are all guilty of critiquing but forget to praise. Keep churning out your essays

Small flies - big salmon
Hi Andy I can't tie small flies so I buy them. I have used Salar flies and Fishingflies.is It looks like the really small flies are only available as trebles whereas the doubles only go down to #14. Pete You are absolutely correct about Rangá the bigger spring fed rivers are cold and you need bigge...

Small flies - big salmon
Just returned from Iceland where some salmon chasing was done. In the gin clear small rivers there these flies are deadly. IMG_6127.JPG To witness the strikes in the surface when using these (#14 and #16) is exciting IMG_4210.jpg I have not fished for salmon anywhere else - is this size productive a...

Hi Paul. Ok I have another go. There are 2 bones in our underarms radius and ulna. The radius can rotate over the ulnar bone (hence the name) and when fully pronated crosses the ulna. In the anatomical position - arms out palms forward - the radius is the upper one and the palm is facing forward. Th...

Paul, great videos. Nice to see what we've been discussing, looking forward to the slow motion editing...and Gordy's input. I've been noticing on different videos, that have been posted on social media that the caster will rotate/twist the reel about 45 degrees at the completion of the back cast. W...

Steel Wire Shock Tippet
For toothy critters I encounter here in the Florida panhandle I used heavy fluorocarbon (50-60 pounds) for shock tippets. Not fun to tie. Have now gone over to multi-strand stainless steel wire nylon coated. This has worked very well and knots easily with no kinks. Product called surflon micro supre...
