Re: Slack line casts
Something that has caught my eye in Sekhars' video is that the rod tip is very nearly on the floor before loop formation, I cannot make out if the same is happening in Malik's demo. If this is common to both then I have been doing it wrong by trying to do it as far as possible with the fly line in ...

Good points Paul
I'm glad to know that this video can help. Thanks, it's encouraging to try and produce more of them!Paul Arden wrote: ↑Tue Sep 12, 2023 6:25 am Having seen your saltwater use for the Svirgolato has really opened my eyes to its use. That is really outstanding and I hadn’t thought this possible.

Re: Slack line casts
Thanks Malik, I’ve still got the video you sent me 3 years ago, that’s a great one for seeing what the final movement is… I definitely fall in the camp of finding it easier if I can see what is happening, if I watch a vid enough I can start to get a feel for it… I reckon I just need to tweak the ti...

Re: Slack line casts
Hi Paul, Thank you very much for the link to the article, I didn't know about this paper and I'm going to read it with great interest. I think that even if there is some dispute about who found it first, everyone agrees that this cast was originally the result of a casting error (essentially a misap...

No problem Matt ! The video of Sekhar is excellent (Walter posted it before I’m presently editing one filming from behind in slomo. As soon as I finished I'll let you know. I think it can help.
Take care !

Re: Slack line casts
Quick question…. I assume the point at which the leader/fly line kicks over relates to how ‘immediately at the stop’ you twist/rotate the wrist? Sooner the twist the further down the line the leader/line flips? Been out quickly for a practice, and it’s just starting to work with some regularity, al...

Re: Slack line casts
Hi Malik, Can you tell us the history of the Svirgolato please? Who invented it and so on? Many thanks, Paul Hi Paul, As usual, the authorship of this cast is disputed. Unless I'm mistaken (but I'm abroad and should check my library) Roberto Pragliola, the historical « father » of the Italian techn...

Re: Slack line casts
I can’t edit the above post for some reason… and meant to ask a question… Is there a particular leader design the helps? The one I was using was fairly heavy, 9’- 30lb, 25lb, 15lb and 12 lb, with a fairly short 12ln tippet section, all chameleon…it’s more robust for repeated practice on grass. Woul...
