Re: New Student / Casting “tune-up”

Thanks a lot Paul, I'll send you an email later so as to download the files. In my learning curve, the moment that changed completely my mind and improved dramatically my casting was when Marcelo Morales, an excellent instructor and sales manager of Sage in Argentina, came to my town for a clinic, a...

Re: New Student / Casting “tune-up”

Hi Paul. I‘ve found that, for teaching, no matter the casting level, students benefit from going back to the basics, explaining every step. I believe that if you know what you are doing and why, the learning process is much easier and effective. For that, I base my teaching method in five principles...

Re: First distance casting practice

Dear John, what a pleasure and honour to receive your corrections and explanations. I'll focus then on not twisting my forearm and using the inddx knuckle on top grip, also in hauling in the wrist rotation (by the way, I'm strengthening my forearm muscles with a 2 kg dumbell). I've seen an excellent...

Re: First distance casting practice

Thanks John, always so helpful and clear! Point 1, clear as water; Point 2, twisting the rod affects tracking, force transmision or both? Referring to point 3, I think the only way I can do it is changing the grip to delay the rotation even more, as Paul explains in his masterclass, also as i've see...

Re: First distance casting practice

Hi Paul, certainly there are ways to throw big heavy flies, in my opinion the best is contant tension casts like the belgian cast, which also has a great advantage: it avoids the dangle they provoque, as in the back cast the fly is travelling below the line; the problem is when you fish from the boa...

Re: First distance casting practice

Thanks John and Paul, it is clear your corrrection, I´ll focus on bh haul next time, thinking in just practising the backcast starting with line in ground. Next video will be better. Also I will check my BH tracking by laying the line in BH and see how it lands.
