Re: Belgian / Gebetsroither / Continuous Tenion
Hi everyone, Mostly there is a lot of confusion coming along with the Hans Gebetsroither style as soon as non native German speaking experts demonstrate that style. This always reminds me well of how much effort it takes to learn a second language and study the technical details of fly casting bein...

Re: Belgian / Gebetsroither / Continuous Tenion
Twisting the hand out and upwards at the end of the stroke. That’s a good question. And a terrible answer. Just in a rush. Will try to explain properly later! I can see it pretty clearly in your pendulum cast video. Also can see it in Tim Rajeff’s video that Morsie linked to. It’s almost like drawi...

Re: Belgian / Gebetsroither / Continuous Tenion
Here you go Carol, I found this further down. https://www.ginkandgasoline.com/fly-fishing-tips-technique/tim-rajeff-on-casting-heavy-flies-video/ This video is super helpful, Morsie. Thank you. I'm going to download it and then upload it into coach's eye so I can really see what's happening in the ...

Re: Belgian / Gebetsroither / Continuous Tenion
I think Roman is here far better, he is probably the best in the Gebetsroither style. Perfect tracking. Roman certainly is silky smooth. I just wish ich sprach Deutsche (help from google translation  ) to understand what he's saying in the instruction. I loved listening to Hayes talk about...

Re: Belgian / Gebetsroither / Continuous Tenion
Good German accent, Paul. :D It's helpful to know that there is a plane distinction between the Geb and the Belgian, and that "continuous/constant tension" is somewhat of a misnomer. I've always heard the names being used interchangeably. It's also good to know that the Belgian is just plain (or pla...

Re: Belgian / Gebetsroither / Continuous Tenion
First of all, you do a good accent. :D Second, thank you both for the direction, with details about the rod tip path and links to good videos. Like other casts, it probably takes a lot of practice, and trying different things, in order to perfect it. I'll keep working on it. A couple of years ago, w...

Belgian / Gebetsroither / Continuous Tenion
I can't seem to find good online sources for how to properly perform a Belgian cast. I don't like my "loop" when I do it, especially if it's a sidearm back cast. Depending upon the wind direction, the forward loop opens up and looks more like a backward "L" than a sideways "U." Also, it often result...

Re: Rotating through the stroke
It probably is easiest to upload to YouTube and embed or send to me and I can do this, Carol :) Jonathan analyzed my back cast today and, as you might suspect, I was pronating my hand on the back cast, then straightening it for the forward cast. The "cure" is to think of supinating a teeny bit when...

Re: Rotating through the stroke
Thank you, John and Paul. I have this post bookmarked so I can mull over it and work on it. Part of my problem with accuracy at 45' is tracking. I just took a video of it yesterday and sent this to Mac B. for any tips. I practice with the laser pen light on the ceiling, and was also doing it in the ...

Re: Rotating through the stroke
Paul, that is too friggin' funny of a story. I can only imagine the stories you'd have if you and Hayes had to spend a month together, that is, if you both survived it. Makes me laugh just thinking about it.
