Bugger. Hopefully next year, mate. I'd love to crack into some casting lessons with you when you're over here too. Never too late to learn right?Paul Arden wrote: ↑Sat Jun 20, 2020 11:59 am ...I’m planning a trip back maybe next Wet Season - ie the following November for three months. Re: Embarrassing question
Thanks for that mighty fine video, Lars. I've never bothered tying palmered flies but this is dragging me back to my vice with hackles in hand! Cheers.

Tom - great to hear about the joy that rod is delivering. I'm inches away from putting in an order for the same. Might have to leave my name off it though, in case I get caught up the wrong catchment in my wandering, haha ;-)

Re: Wading boots by shoe companies
Cris - I've found the soles excellent with the cleats screwed in. Can't fault the cleats at all. They grip amazingly on our super-slippery southern wilderness rivers. But despite taking my G4s on many long trips and walking them wet around the local hills to break them in, they refuse to comply. I'l...

Re: Wading boots by shoe companies
Yeah, Paul. Those Canyon Guide boots look like a sweet solution. Please keep us in the loop. I reckon you'll be distributing those in bulk if they last the trial. There's a big gap in the market for something of quality.

Re: Wading boots by shoe companies
Just bumping this thread on ... I have an ongoing 'hate/really f'ing hate' relationship with some aging Simms G4 Riversheds. Every season I wear them 2-3 times. Then put them away. Will have done it for a decade next year. They are armed with those overpriced carbide thingys, but are simply too stif...

Re: Loop Cross SW
Can I please sneak across your thread and ask about the Loop 7X also? But really to find out if it's simply 'too fast'?! I'd like to give one a crack just to see. Like the Cross SW, they are offering the 7X either as a medium fast or fast action - making me wonder if the medium fast is up my alley f...

Re: Best flurocarbon to mono knot?
It would be sweet for someone independent to do some testing on the 'flyfisher' packs of nylon & fluorocarbon versus the larger spools. I think you're right, Paul. It's a marketing con job. I'm currently testing f/c and nylon (of same stated weights) on alternate days at present before I make th...

Re: Thoughts on catch and release - best practice
Just scanned this thread. Some good points. Definitely only out of the water for a few seconds for the camera or a quick proud glance and then away. I'm all for keeping tippet strength up as much as you can and going hard at the first netting opportunity. I likes the above idea of guides giving hook...
