Re: Unproven

Hi again. Thanks for all your replies, and great points. But I think it’s getting off track with my original point. What I was trying to say was, that I’m tired of the approach where people tie a new and “innovative” fly, and then posting pictures and videos all over the internet, and claiming that ...

Unproven

Hi All I just finished reading Martyn Whites front page “Unproven” that he posted today. And I think he’s right on point with what he says! Even though I’m not on social media of any sorts (besides Sexyloops, if that counts as social media), I still often see unproven fly patterns being posted aroun...

Re: Swinging for salmon

Hi Gary In my home river, pretty much all Salmon and Seatrout fly fishing is done with fast sinking shooting heads. And this is on both DH and SH rods. And yes, hooking the fish can be a real challenge! When I use my DH rod, I will typically do a standard swinging technique with the fly, and when ho...

Re: Swinging for salmon

Hi Gary Like Paul, I would also recommend “Salmon Fishing” by Hugh Falkus, if you can find a used copy. I could recommend lots of other great books, but unfortunately the best ones I know are written in either Danish or Swedish… Unfortunately it seems, that after the invention of the internet and Yo...

Re: What is it? Competiton.

Or maybe you tried to get one of the new AI bots to write a list of fly fishing terms, and robots don’t know anything about fly fishing?

Cheers

Re: What is it? Competiton.

I think you tried to use google translate (or some other similar app) to translate a list of fly fishing terms, and google apparently doesn’t know anything about fly fishing?

Cheers

Re: Injury prevention

I also agree that you have to stay sort of fit in order to enjoy fly fishing. Let me give you an example of a guy who was in his mid forties, who I talked to a couple of years ago, who had problems with back pain when fly casting: He had the issue, that he would get severe back pain after about 20 m...

Re: hello from Chile

Hi Vincente

Welcome to the Board!

I think it’s great to have another DH rod Salmon fisherman on the board! Seems there aren’t many of us…

Cheers

Re: does balancing a rod have and effect on casting?

Hi Vincente I generally don’t think too much about balancing my outfits… I just put on a reel that suits the fishing I’m going to do, and go fishing with it. But it just so happens, that the reels I like the most for Trout fishing are usually really light, whereas the reels I like for Salmon fishing...
