Re: Low Stretch cores, are they another marketing scam?
There is difference when pumping up a big fish. When you have reached the peak and lower your rod quickly to get line in, with a bungee the load doesn’t change much making it tougher to reel the line in. For most this is neglible, but I fish for BFT whenever I can.

Re: #10 line recommendation
Funny, I have not had a single failure on my Leviathans or Flatspro lines. The flatspro is in my opinion the best line for warm to warmish weather tuna fishing.

Re: #10 line recommendation
The best lines I’ve come across have always been with stiffish monocore. You can stretch it so that it gets straight and then it doesn’t flap around during the shoot die to stiffness. So less tangles and better shooting. Unfortunately there are not many lines built like that. Apparantly getting a go...

Re: #10 line recommendation
I’ve only had that happening with barstool lines with braided cores. I love the stiffness, but capability to get i straight that monocore brings. Much less tangles in my fishing. Have not had any problems with barstool or Ruo (Leviathan and Flatspro) lines. And those do get a beating when there is a...

Re: ICSF WC Flycasting Sweden 2024
I led organizing the Nordic Championship in 2013. We had fly casting and casting. 57 participants on the participant list (not sure if it was the final, but about correct). Fly casting and casting were not in the same place. There was at least some overlap between participation (albeit only one or t...

Re: question about a leader for a fast sinking scandi line
If the fly sinks as fast as the fly line, there isn’t much of difference except for the amount of leader the fly needs to drag down. The faster the water, the less difference as that wants to pull all level. With light fly, the longer the leader, the more there is lag between fly line and fly. So it...

Re: ICSF WC Flycasting Sweden 2024
Oh dear. 6 days and 550€ just for the participation. That is just too much.

Re: Updated info
Make a rod with thin walls compared to intended load and breakage strain of the material and it breaks/can be broken. Of course the stiffness taper will also affect.
With fibers usually the stiffness correlates with breakage strain (higher stiffness -> lower breakage strain).

Re: 6 piece salmon rod suggestions
It is not even close to high end, but I have been impressed with Shakespeare Oracle EXP 13’9” #8. It is really 13’6”. I’ve caught decent salmon from flooding big river running 2000m3/s and ~5kg bluefin trevally in Indonesia (overhead casting from shore). It has seen a good beating. A really good rod...
